Rich Avila is a local Dallas artist who strives to find a balance within human interaction. Each of his beautifully grotesque drawings is at once intimate and ominous, with an element of struggle or tension. Free-spirited figures and almost violent images capture differing experiences, but juxtaposed, seem to create a similar sense of uneasiness within the viewer, who is seeing a moment that is captured and suspended in space. The static motion emphasizes the tension within each drawing.
